Procedure Claiming Insurance After Accident in KSA

Here we shall provide step by step process of claiming insurance after accident.

Traffic Police Station

1. First of all, you need to go to the traffic police department (Maroor). It is better to go to the traffic police station after one day of accident. You will have to present the letter given to you by Najm. At traffic police department, they will check the details in the system of letter by the Najm. You will have to present your Iqama, driving license and insurance to them. If you are not Arabic speaking, it is better to take some Arabic speaking person with you.
2. If you don’t have vehicle insurance, your claim cannot be processed. So, you will have to go back from the police station toissue insurance of your vehicle under your name. I have explained the fullprocedure of getting your vehicle insuredin this article.
3. Traffic police station will approve the letter from Najm and issue another letter stating that your vehicle is accepted for maintenance. All the process in police department can take up to 2 hours.

Maintenance Shop

1. After this, you will have to go to the maintenance shop approved by the Traffic Police Department. It is called “Sheikh Warash” maintenance shop. 3 different people examined my vehicle. 3 quotations from 3 different companies are required for the maintenance of the car. This process also took around 2 hours.
2. In case of total loss of vehicle, "Sheikh Warash" recommends the driver to go to the "Sheikh Muarad".
3. After this, you will have to go to main office of the shop. It is actually a small office. They will give you 3 quotations for maintenance as well as list of spare parts required for maintenance. It will take around 1 hour to get through this procedure.
4. They will direct you to a spare parts shop from where you can get the quotation of spare parts required for maintenance. You cannot go to any spare parts shop; you will have to go the spare parts shop mentioned by the maintenance shop. He charges around SR 50 per quotation.

Insurance Company

Next step is visiting the insurance company’s office to submit all the documents. Due to large number of accidents, offices of insurance companies remain very crowded. You will have to submit all the documents there. It will take around 5-6 hours. They will give you an appointment to collect the tax from them. Make sure you have all these documents to submit to them.

2. Letter from Traffic Police Approving the Maintenance of the Vehicle
3. Copy of Iqama
4. Copy of Driving License
